Hahaha, I've gotten nothing but compliments. My friend, Danny is a total knife guy and he'd never seen anything quite like it -- except for America Hawk bill knives.
I can't believe how flashy and cool it looks as you deploy it. By default now, I've added a backflip as I draw it. While the wave usually works -- 1/5th of the time you may not properly catch the pocket and as a result it will deploy but not fully lock. I've found that by adding that "backflip" I can:
-Deploy much faster
-Once the karambit comes back into my palm, it's in combat position
-The momentum of the blade WILL lock it no matter what
Plus that little flip sure makes it look like you know your stuff with that blade. Danny said, "Whoa. Have you had that for a few years now?"
"Nah, this one for a few days."
"I could have sworn you trained with that your whole life."
I think I will always own a Fox Karambit now. It's an amazing utility knife and cuts through everything like butter. Not to mention it's capabilities in a self defense scenario. I'd rather this:
Instead of a few 4 inch by 1 inch stabs. I've seen so many people come into the ER with 10+ stab wounds and walk out in a few days. However, it may take a bit longer in case their intestines were ruptured because they have to make sure all the bacteria and waste don't leak out into the body. Otherwise, they walk out in a few days with stitches.
I have to say,
Karambit > Straight blade
All day. Er'day.
By the way Oedius, check this out.
If you have a standard martial arts background (even just a basic boxing. Anything) as you said combined with basic knowledge of human anatomy & physiology -- you can take someone literally down in a few slashes to important tendons, ligaments, nerves & arteries/veins.
And I just happen to be very well versed in human anatomy.
